Enviormental Flows

Cultural thressholds

Loss of culture due to lack of a proper social space, changing house typologies and a hardening tourist edge and the warehouse like unhuman living conditions for migrants/workers are the major concerns in the shehris located behind the Nani Daman fort. So how does one reconfigure the existing public and living spaces to bring back environmental flows and comfort?

Our site was located near the nani Daman fort. The area around this fort has fishing village and sea on the other side. The village was depleting as new settlements , upgradation of hotels and different goverment projects were being introduced. The village had small passages for people to travell which are called shehris and the life started from these shehris towards the coast. But there is promenade developed at the coast which seems to have made a disturbance between the flow of people and the beach.

Cross sections

This structure is usefull for socialising as the people of daman have a specific kind of structures outside thier settlements which are  called 'oltas'. A siting space where all gossips and social flows occur. Itis also a hall for people to countinue thier cultural events.

Roads and activity

There are changes that have been seen like the change in structures of houses . Some buildings have terrace where as some have slopping roofs with wooden structures and supports. The market of this village has also seen some drastic changes where there was a long structure that was established during portugese time and now the structure is completely changed by adding buildings and harsh boxes of concrete.
